In the days when coal was king in Lancashire and many other mining areas
there was a strong tradition of pitmen writing poetry. Many of these were
published on a regular basis in the local newspapers.
Now the pits have gone and many of the men with them. Sadly, the tradition
has lapsed. These poems may keep the tradition alive.
If you wish to include them in any publication I would ask only that you
include my name and if you have any comments please contact me first.
