Roger Lowe has been referred to as the Samuel Pepys of Lancashire. The book is a reprint of an unpublished 1877 edition produced by the editor of the 'Leigh Chronicle'. It contains many interesting facts of local history in the Leigh, St. Helens, Ashton and Wigan areas and is a good source of local names. The book also includes a record of deaths in the Ashton area and burials at Winwick church.
